Daily Festival Activities
There are many things to see and learn about at the Ailsa Craig Quilt & Fibre Arts Festival. Our visitors from Spain will be presenting world class workshops for which you must be registered to attend. There will be interesting demonstrations from our Spanish guests and also from vendors during the Festival and in the main auditorium. Vendors will bring their beautiful goods to share and sell. Each day, a member of the Spanish delegation will present a talk at Ye Olde Town Hall on the Tradition and Influences affecting Spanish Fibre Arts. All these activities and more will be at the Community Centre (affectionately known to locals as the Rec. Centre) except for the 1.00 pm talk in Ye Old Town Hall. There is a more detailed explanation of all these demonstrations & talks following the schedule.
Also on display at Ye Olde Town Hall will be the entries from this years Fibre Block Challenge; "Spain Through Our Eyes". Last years event was a major success and the Canadian blocks, which came in from coast to coast, are currently on display in New Zealand. What a fabulous opportunity to showcase the talents of our Canadian fibre artists. Due to the outrageous shipping charges of these miniature works of art, in 2020 we will select the top 25 Fibre Blocks to tour Spain. All entries will be on display at Ye Olde Town Hall and we invite our visitors to vote for their favourites. One entry will be selected by the Spanish delegation as the Artista's" Selection while our guests will select the Viewer's Choice Award, the Runner Up Viewer's Choice Award and the Junior Artista's Award.
The Quilter's Cafe at the Ailsa Craig Community Centre, offers delicious lunches and snacks that have people coming back year after year. Our Rhubarb custard pie is a favourite and we always try to include some menu items that represent the guest country's cuisine.
The Ailsa Craig Quilt & Fibre Arts Festival runs entirely off the efforts of volunteers and through the generosity of our sponsors. If you would like to become involved - we welcome you! Please contact Sue Finch, Volunteer Convener: firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (519) 293-3232 for further details. You will be delighted you participated!
